Venezuela's Chavez nominates Parra as BCV chief

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez Frias has proposed economist Gaston Parra as his choice for the presidency of the Venezuelan Central Bank (BCV).

Parra is currently vice-president of the central bank. He trained as an economist and is a former head of state-owned oil company Petroleos de Venezuela SA (PDVSA).

National Committee (AN) president, Rodrigo Cabezas has suggested that the AN will support the President's candidate.
