ECB's Mersch says rates in tightening phase

European Central Bank Governing Council member Yves Mersch said in an interview with Boersen-Zeitung newspaper published Thursday 26 April that the ECB's phase of interest rate increases isn't over yet.

Mersch said eurozone interest rates have risen from figures that were historically very low, and "therefore we are now in a period of normalization".

"This process is not yet completed. Based on our estimates, rates are still on the accommodative side and we see their levels as moderate," Mersch
