Papademos has strong support for ECB job - Rato

SPAIN - Many euro zone finance ministers back Bank of Greece Governor Lucas Papademos to replace European Central Bank Vice President Christian Noyer, Spanish Economy Minister Rodrigo Rato said on Friday.

"A considerable number of countries believe the new ECB Vice President will be the Greek candidate," Rato said in an interview carried on the website for the Spanish presidency of the European Union.

The Irish Minister for Finance, Mr McCreevy will support Bank of Greece governor Mr Lucas
