European Central Bank has new chief

Jean-Claude Trichet began his Presidency of the European Central Bank with a congratulatory address at a commemorative ceremony marking the 75th anniversary of the Bank of Greece in Athens on Monday.

The former chief of France's central bank, Jean-Claude Trichet, has taken over from Wim Duisenberg as the new governor of the European Central Bank.

Duisenberg, who is from the Netherlands, was the first president of the ECB when it was set up in 1998. It was during his term
