GCC should drop dollar peg: Fed adviser

A prominent US economist with Federal Reserve experience has said it makes sense for Gulf states to abandon their dollar pegs.

Jeffrey Frankel - a Harvard professor who also works as an advisor to the New York and Boston Federal Reserves- writes on Vox, an economics blog, that Gulf States with dollar pegs should shift to a basket peg which includes the price of oil.

"The possibility that some Gulf states, particularly the UAE, might abandon their long-time pegs to the dollar is getting
