Tanigaki says inflation targeting debate important

Japanese Finance Minister Sadakazu Tanigaki said Friday 22 April that it would be important for the Bank of Japan to consider inflation targeting as a monetary policy option once the country overcomes deflation.

"I think debates on inflation targeting are important. Once we overcome deflation, we would see a time when we have to hold precise discussions on the issue," Tanigaki told reporters when asked about a call by the International Monetary Fund on the BOJ to introduce gradual inflation
