Argentine minister says bank chief 'should quit'

Argentina's Interior Minister said Mar 1, 2001 a congressional panel probing allegations the country's Central Bank chief turned a blind eye to money laundering should recommend the banker step aside.

The cross-party Central Bank oversight committee must recommend to President Fernando de la Rua whether or not he should fire Central Bank President Pedro Pou over accusations he failed to investigate money laundering in the Argentine banking system - a charge the banker denies.
