Dublin ECB date in doubt on foot-and-mouth fears

The likelihood of a planned European Central Bank meeting taking place in Dublin later this month was thrown into doubt on Mar 2, 2001 as Ireland stepped up measures against the risk of foot-and-mouth disease.

"The Dublin meeting is under review and we are monitoring the situation very carefully in consultation with the relevant government authorities," a spokesman for the Irish Central Bank said. Hundreds of officials and journalists from around Europe are expected to travel to the Irish capital
