Ethiopia makes arrests over fake gold scandal

Ethiopian anti-corruption officials arrested 26 people in connection with the discovery of 90 kilos of fake gold in the central bank's vaults.

Berhanu Assefa, a spokesperson for the anti-corruption commission, told the BBC that central bank officials were among those being held.

"Seven from the National Bank of Ethiopia, four from the Ethiopian Geological Survey and 15 businessmen and their collaborators have been arrested," Assefa said. The Geological Survey certifies and approves the central
