PBOC chief calls for some forex curbs lifting

China should lift certain foreign exchange controls in the near term to create conditions for the full convertibility of the local currency, Caijing Magazine quoted Zhou Xiaochuan, the central bank governor, as saying.

"In the near term, certain unnecessary foreign exchange controls should be actively abandoned to create conditions to promote full convertibility of (our) currency," Zhou said in a speech at an international forum.
