Bank appoints new financial stability director

The Bank of England has promoted Andrew Haldane, the head of its systemic risk assessment division, to executive director for financial stability.

Haldane replaces Nigel Jenkinson, who has decided to leave the Bank to pursue public policy interests in the area of international financial stability. Jenkinson will become an adviser to Mervyn King, the Bank's governor, for an unspecified period, during which he will continue his work on the Banking Bill and advise King on the international
