Solomon Islands wait on Hou replacement

The delay in appointing a new governor before Rick Houenipwela leaves in August is causing concern at the Central Bank of the Solomon Islands, according to local media reports.

The National Express quotes the secretary of the bank, Edward Ronia, as saying the central bank is worried that with the governor's term due to expire on 20 August and no replacement named, the institution could be left without a leader. Ideally he would like an overlap to enable a smooth handover.
