Japan ruling party backs ending BoJ rate policy

The Bank of Japan has received clear backing from the ruling Liberal Democratic Party on its plans to end the current zero interest rate policy.

"We should trust the BoJ and leave it (a monetary policy change) up to them," Tsutomu Takebe, the LDP secretary general, told a forum broadcast by the NHK public television.

Takebe joined Economic and Fiscal Policy Minister Kaoru Yosano in publicly supporting the BoJ's plan to "normalize" its monetary policy and launch gradual credit tightening to head
