Zimbabwe's Gono banned from United Kingdom

A leading Zimbabwean newspaper has reported that the United Kingdom has barred Gideon Gono, the governor of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe, from entering the country because of his role as president Robert Mugabe's "private banker".

According to The Herald, the British home office told Gono that allowing him to enter the country gave him "a platform to justify [his] actions".

The Herald said Britain has accused the governor of involvement in "corrupt practices that have undermined democracy".
