Malaysia's Zeti sees more Islamic bank licenses

Bank Negara Malaysia may issue more Islamic bank licences to local banks and foreigners in a bid to transform the country into and Islamic banking hub, the central bank governor Zeti Akhtar Aziz said.

"We do not rule out the option (of issuing of more licenses to foreigners) ... but based on the current environment, it stands at three," she told reporters after the launch of Hong Leong Islamic bank.
