Bank calls for systemic risk re-think

The Bank of England on Tuesday called for a strengthening of cross-border crisis management, criticising the decision by some authorities to offer blanket guarantees on deposits.

It the latest of its bi-annual Financial Stability Report, the Bank said recent events had "highlighted weaknesses in cross-border management which increase the need for joint work to improve co-operation between authorities in these cases." Sir John Gieve, the deputy governor responsible for financial stability, said:
