Malaysia to adopt 2-phase Basel II approach

Malaysia will adopt a 2-phase approach towards the Basel II banking accord, Bank Negara governor Tan Sri Dr Zeti Akhtar Aziz said.

Zeti said in her keynote address at the Risk Management Seminar on Basel II in Kuala Lumpur Thursday that the 1st phase would begin in January 2008 when all banks would adopt the standardised approach for credit risks and basic indicator approach for operational risks.
