US and Chinese officials to meet on yuan issue

Officials from the People's Bank of China plan to meet on Monday 9 May with US Treasury Department officials for continuing discussions relating to various financial issues including China's pegged exchange rate system.

US Treasury Secretary John Snow will not be involved in the discussions, Treasury spokesman Tony Fratto said on Thursday 6 May. He said the US side would be represented by lower-level Treasury officials.
