Taiwan's foreign exchange reserves increase

Taiwan's foreign exchange reserves totalled US$242.7 billion at the end of January, up US$1 billion from a month earlier, according to the latest statistics released by the Central Bank of China (CBC).

The CBC officials attributed the increase mainly to dividends generated from the reserves and inflow of foreign capital.

Taiwan's foreign exchange reserves rank third in the world, behind only those of Japan and mainland China, they added.
