Report says Belgium set to propose ECB candidate

According to a report in a Belgian local daily on Thursday 5 February, Peter Praet, a central bank director, is set to be put forward as a replacement to a retiring ECB board member.

Belgium's cabinet will probably announce Praet's candidacy after its weekly meeting on Friday ahead of a meeting of euro zone finance ministers next week, the report in Le Soir said.
