Duisenberg steps up ECB anti-inflation rhetoric

GERMANY - European Central Bank President Wim Duisenberg on Tuesday warned against the risks of inflation, keeping markets guessing on the eve of a bank policy meeting about whether it would raise interest rates.

"Even though the appreciation of the euro will contribute to the easing of inflationary pressures, we will continue to monitor all developments," Duisenberg said during one of his regular appearances before the European Parliament.
