BOJ sees deflation continuing for a while

Bank of Japan Governor Toshihiko Fukui said in a speech Monday that Japan's economy is continuing to recover in a stable manner but prices should stay "slightly negative" for a while.

"Our economy is recovering in a stable manner and domestic demand is increasingly firm," Fukui in a speech Monday to the central bank's regional branch managers.

"Looking at households, the fall in incomes is easing and consumer spending is looking stronger."
