Belgium may scrap small euro coins

Reports on Thursday said the Belgian government had agreed in principle with banks, business and consumer groups to scrap one and two euro coins.

Daily newspapers L'Echo and La Libre Belgique reported that Belgian retail industry lobby, FEDIS, consumer watchdog Test-Achats, Banksys - the Belgian Association of Banks - and ministerial representatives all agreed that the smallest euro coins should be taken out of circulation.
