Eichel-Need to debate ECB reform pre-enlargement

Reform of the European Central Bank's (ECB) Governing Council need not be discussed immediately, but should "possibly" be debated before the planned enlargement of the European Union, German Finance Minister Hans Eichel said Dec 20.

"A reform of the ECB's governing structures need not be discussed now, but should be discussed and decided before the expansion process," Eichel said at a press conference after meeting his Swedish counterpart Boffe Ringholm.
