Argentine peso peg to include euro,yen-Cavallo

Former Argentine Economy Minister Domingo Cavallo, who reportedly has been offered the job of central bank chief, said in a press interview he favored alterations to foreign exchange policy.

Cavallo, who under then President Carlos Menem introduced the peso/dollar peg known as Convertibility in 1991, which has helped to guarantee economic stability ever since, told Clarin daily in the interview published Mar 11, 2001 that the Argentine peso should now be pegged to more than just one currency.
