Woman economist takes MPC post at BofE

UK - A female city economist is to replace Sushil Wadhwani on the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) in the latest merry-go-round at the Bank of England.

In the second of up to seven personnel changes at the Bank before next summer, Gordon Brown has appointed Marian Bell to the MPC after Mr Wadhwani decided against requesting a second term. Ms Bell, a former treasury economist at the Royal Bank of Scotland and currently a consultant, formally takes up her position on the MPC on 1 June.
