Former Ugandan central bank chief in 'civil jail'

UGANDA - The East African newspaper reported on Monday that the former governor of Uganda's central bank, Dr Sulaiman Kiggundu, was currently being held in jail for not paying a $360,000 debt.

The paper reports that the most recent celebrity to go to civil jail is a distinguished citizen called Dr Sulaiman Kiggundu. Not only was he governor of the central bank for many years, he established the largest local public bank, Greenland, that at one point even bought the national banking chain, Uganda
