Solomon Islands to repay central bank debt

The Solomon Islands government has signed a deal that will restructure and repay a part of its $US30 million debt with the country's central bank.

The accord was signed in the capital, Honiara, by Finance Minister, Peter Boyers, and Central Bank Governor, Ric Hou.

Ric Hou said the accord represents a major change in government thinking about the role of the central bank.
