ECB board member says euro rates appropriate

In a speech on Tuesday 10 February, European Central Bank executive board member Gertrude Tumpel-Gugerell said the ECB is not currently considering a cut in rates and that despite the euro's rise growth predictions remain the same.

Interest rates are appropriate and any change to monetary policy is "currently not an issue", she told the International Club of Frankfurt Financial Journalists on Tuesday night.

She did not comment on whether the ECB would intervene in currency markets to bring down
