Thailand holds interest rates unchanged

The Bank of Thailand maintained its key interest rate at 1.25% on Wednesday 21 July, but said it will consider raising rates in the face of inflationary pressures.

"The BOT's monetary policy committee has decided to maintain its 14-day repurchase rate at 1.25% for the time being," assistant bank governor Atchana Waiquamdee said.

Rising exports and domestic consumption have fuelled economic growth which the government has forecast at 7.5% for fiscal 2004-2005, Atchana said.
