New China central bank chief pledges stable policy

China's newly appointed central bank governor Zhou Xiaochuan has pledged to keep monetary policy stable this year and improve financial services to help spur economic growth, it was reported on Tuesday.

"The central bank will maintain continuity and stability of financial policy this year and continue to implement a stable and healthy monetary policy," the China Securities Journal quoted Zhou as saying.

Zhou also vowed to enhance the central bank's supervisory role and improve "financial services"
