Japan's economy enters recession

The yen fell against the dollar after a government report showed Japan's economy entered recession for the fourth time since 1991.

Gross domestic product contracted at an annual pace of 0.5 percent in the fourth quarter, in sharp contrast to the 0.5 percent growth predicted by economists, as inventories of some electronics goods piled up and consumption remained weak despite a stronger jobs outlook.
