Japan's PM says govt would tolerate BOJ shift

Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi indicated Monday 27 February that the government would be prepared to tolerate a move by the Bank of Japan in lifting its ultra-easy policy as early as March.

"The government and the BOJ are trying in concert to move the economy out of deflation, and the question of what measures are needed in accordance with this policy is a matter the BOJ is to decide," Koizumi told reporters at his official residence.
