Eurosystem currency reserves down

The European Central Bank said net foreign currency reserves in the eurosystem decreased by 0.7 bln eur to 165.4 bln in the week ending 30 September.

Banknotes in circulation rose by 4.3 bln eur to 533.2 bln, the ECB said.

The gold position of the eurosystem increased by 12.1 bln eur to 149.682 bln eur mainly as a result of the quarterly revaluation adjustment.

The eurosystem comprises the ECB and the national central banks of the euro zone.
