Eurozone interest rates held steady at 2.75%

The European Central Bank on Thursday left interest rates in the eurozone unchanged following a half-point cut in December, despite a series of data which have suggested stuttering growth in the 12-nation bloc.

The bank's key refi rate was left at 2.75 per cent following a half-point cut last month.

Economists, who expected rates to stay on hold, said the ECB was likely to hold off easing policy further before seeing whether December's reduction gave a much-needed boost.
