Some BOJ members wanted 0.5% hike - report says

Jiji Press reported on Friday 21 July that three Bank of Japan Policy Board members sought a steeper increase in the official discount rate at the central bank's meeting last week.

At the two-day meeting that ended on 14 July, the nine-member BOJ board decided unanimously to end its zero interest rate policy, while the vote was split six to three over a decision to raise the official discount rate from 0.1 percent to 0.4 percent, the report said.

The three dissenting members were Suda, Atsushi
