Hacker fears prompt security check for Bacs
Concern has arisen about the strength of security for the Bacstel direct access service, used by more than 40,000 companies.
Internal documents leaked to a specialist magazine, Computer Weekly, show Bacs was warned as long ago as 1996 by its own IT department that it needed to improve security.
A year later an audit by accountants Deloitte & Touche
