Argentina seeks support for economic crisis plan

Argentine President Fernando de la Rua on Mar 22, 2001 urged a disaffected coalition partner to rejoin the Cabinet, in a call to muster support for a new plan to pull the country out of financial crisis.

De la Rua was also due to meet with senior members of the main opposition Peronist party in a bid to build consensus over measures that new Economy Chief Domingo Cavallo proposed overnight - which Congress must now decide whether to ratify.
