Joseph Yam appointed Chairman of the BIS ACC

PRESS RELEASE - The Board of Directors of the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) on Monday announced Joseph C K Yam as Chairman of the BIS Asian Consultative Council (ACC). Mr Yam is Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority.

Mr Yam's appointment is for a term of two years from March 2003. He succeeds Mr Ian Macfarlane, Governor of the Reserve Bank of Australia, as ACC Chairman. Mr Macfarlane chaired the Council from March 2001 to February 2003.
