ECB cannot stop stocks from falling-Buba's Welteke

EUROPE - The European Central Bank can do nothing to counter plunging stock prices, Bundesbank president Ernst Welteke said in an interview with the German radio station Deutschlandfunk.

"The central bank is unable to stabilise prices. It does not have the necessary tools," said Welteke when asked about possible actions to curb the current crisis.

Welteke, who is also a member of the ECB's Governing Council, said people should not give into nervousness. A long-term view when investing in shares
