China central bank looks to widen trading band

The governor of the People's Bank of China, Zhou Xiaochuan, has repeated that the yuan's value remains appropriate but that it would be sensible to research a possible widening of the foreign exchange trading band.

Zhou's comments are similar to remarks made by State Administration of Foreign Exchange chief Guo Shuqing who said on Thursday that China will, in the days to come, widen the yuan trading band if both "necessary and possible."
