No ECB comment on intervention talk

The European Central Bank declined to comment on reports coming out of Tokyo suggesting possible joint action with Japan on the foreign exchange market, AFX News said.

"The ECB does not comment on interventions," said a spokesman for the bank, according to AFX.

Earlier, newswire reports quoted Japan's vice finance minister for international affairs, Hiroshi Watanabe, as saying Japan and Europe could take "harmonized action" if necessary, though no joint moves have yet been discussed.
