MEPs reject ECB voting reform proposals

MEPs have rejected the ECB's proposal for reform of the voting arrangements of its Governing Council. The idea was labelled "discriminatory" as it would mean smaller states who join the eurozone would face lengthy periods of time without a vote. The MEPs called for more time so that a weak system is not rushed through.

The European Central Bank proposals for the reform of the voting system in the Governing Council were rejected by MEPs in the Economic Affairs Committee, who saw
