Laos cbank governor appointed finance minister

LAOS - In a government reshuffle which saw Laotian deputy prime minister and finance minister Bounnyang Vorachit elected prime minister on Mar 27, 2001, central bank governor Soukan Mahalath was elected to succeed Bounnyang as the new finance minister. Soukan's successor as governor has not yet been named.

The 99-member National Assembly approved a cabinet reshuffle which included the appointment of Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Choummaly Sayasone as the country's vice president.The
