Kremlin wants revamp of SDR basket

The Kremlin has called for a radical shift in the composition of the basket of assets that comprise the special drawing right (SDR).

The basket, which is revised every five years, is now made up of dollars, euro, yen and sterling. But Arkady Dvorkovich, an economic aide to the Russian president, said on Wednesday that the basket no longer reflected the prominence of other assets in the global economy.
