Uncertainty over new deputy governor in Kenya

The tenure of the deputy governor of the Central Bank of Kenya was uncertain this week after Dr Edward Sambili's contract ended on April 30, but no one had been appointed to take his place.

Sources at the bank were quoted by the East African Standard as saying his contract was likely to be renewed "for continuity" although it had not been done a week later.

According to BusinessWeek his secretary confirmed that he was still in the office on Friday 6 May.
