No reason to bar Chinese bank offices

TAIWAN - The central bank doesn't have reasons not to allow mainland Chinese banks to set up representative offices in Taiwan, the Commercial Times reports, quoting Central Bank Governor Perng Fai-nan.

Perng said allowing Chinese banks to open offices in the island would be "reciprocity in international relations," now that China has agreed to let Taiwan's Chang Hwa Bank (Q.CHW) and United World Chinese Commercial Bank (Q.UWC) set up representative offices in the mainland, the paper says.
