SA inflation dips as new gauge introduced

South African inflation plunged by more than two percentage points last month following the introduction of a new inflation basket.

CPI inflation, which also takes over from CPIX as the monetary-policy relevant measure, was 8.1% for the year to January. CPIX inflation, headline inflation minus any depreciation in mortgage costs, for December was 10.3%.
