Lithuania banks 2000 cap adequacy 16 pct

The Central Bank of Lithuania said on Jan. 30, 2001, the banking sector's capital adequacy at the end of 2000 was 16.42 percent versus 17.63 percent at the end of 1999, still well over the 10 percent minimum. The sector's liquidity at the end of December 2000 stood at 49.6 percent versus 45.35 percent 12 months ago, the central bank said in its annual banking sector review. The minimum liquidity set by the central bank is 30 percent.
