Britons still hold £540m in eurozone currencies

UK - Britons are hoarding more than £540m-worth of eurozone currencies, but only half the population realises the cash will be impossible to spend after February.

A survey carried out for Barclays Bank found an average of £35-worth of EU currencies such as French francs and German D-Marks held in cash by each household.

These currencies will be replaced by euro notes and coins on January 1, and will be difficult or impossible to convert within the UK after the end of February.
